Concept art from a game called ‘Road Rash 2006’, along with an early animation from a potential new entry back this up.Ĭriterion developers of Burnout hinted at a return, with the former creative director at Criterion Craig Sullivan saying “I had a lot of fun playing that game, we think bikes are fun”.”We might make a Road Rash game… But then we might make a game without vehicles in it” when speaking with The Guardian. Discussion around the internet points at a canceled entry in the series from 2006. But what if I told you it could have become active again. Road Rash isn’t active anymore, hence why this is called ‘Bring Back Road Rash’. It was a blast, the speed and threat of other riders beating you literally and to the finish line made the games a thrill. The gameplay is unique and awesome which also plays a big part in why I remember it and would like to see a new release. And Road Rash 3 had cars change what side of the road they drove on depending on what country the race was set in. If you crashed your bike you would be hurled down the road, leaving you to run back to your bike and pick it up or you could just run around in the road if you so desired. I’m not really one for live-action but if the series ever does return, I hope we get FMV scenes like these ones. I also can’t help but just smile when I watch them. I can’t help but think that the people who made and were in the scenes had fun making them. Hey, the intro scene shows some sweet motorcycle tricks and the winner ones show you celebrating your triumph (no pun intended) so it’s not all savagery. But the sound effects, visuals, subtle voice lines, and general 90’sness give them a comedy feel. It may sound quite, well, not very funny. These where the sort of things you would see in the videos. Or having another rider run over your rider’s wrist as he lays there next to his wrecked bike leaving him rolling in pain on the road. Scenes like having your bike shot with a shotgun by the police. That would play during various points, like getting busted or unlocking a new level. One of the best ways this is displayed is in the remake of the original, with its live-action FMV scenes. But because it didn’t take itself that seriously. I remember Road Rash being so fun not just for the extreme two-wheeled action. Aiming to put an end to your violent vehicular escapades. If that wasn’t enough, the long arm of the law would reach for you. The risk paired with the speed kept you glued to the race. Get hit too many times, hit a tree or collide with a car and you would find yourself being flung into another postcode. The open nature of motorcycles lent themselves to the physical up close and personal combat cars couldn’t deliver. Motorcycles where what you would find yourself using in these races. Instead a heaping of punches, whacks and bashes would lead you to victory. Road Rash presented an arcade version of racing where a clean smooth approach wasn’t the way to win. Though some would say 2003, as that year a GameBoy Advance port of JailBreak was released. It hasn’t seen a release since Road Rash: JailBreak in 2000. However, the response to this game was fairly average whereas older games received positive receptions.Ĭurrently, the Road Rash franchise lays dormant with publisher EA. Road Rash would also make the leap to 3D with Road Rash 3D. Various Ports and sequels would follow including my personal favourite, a remake of the original Road Rash using the same name which released on the 3DO, PlayStation 1, Sega CD/Mega-CD Saturn and PC (the PS1 version was the version I played). The Road Rash series started in 1991 with the release of ‘Road Rash’ on the MEGA DRIVE/GENESIS. And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who would like to see it return. Because it was great fun when it was around (for the most part that is). It’s a game series that isn’t really around anymore and that’s a shame. Not many games bring the adrenaline, violence, and quirkiness Road Rash brought to the table. Until you slam head-on into oncoming traffic or are busted by the cops. Because it features baseball bats and chains which you can smack over competitors heads at breakneck speeds while hanging on for dear life in the saddle of a superbike. In a world where racing games usually involve taking a vehicle around a track smoothly with precision or using power-ups to better your opponents, one game series stands out.

“This program is in direct alignment with our district goals to diversify our staff, 85% of the students are BIPOC and majority also speak a home language in addition to English,” said LPS Coordinator of Special Programs Carolyn Rocheleau. The program provides high school students with real life experience and exposes them to career opportunities in education, while also paying them $15 an hour. The program, in its pilot year, is funded by a grant the district received from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, as well as some federal Title 1 funding and COVID relief funds. There was a hedgehog, a lion-headed bunny named Chewbacca and a curious little gecko named Spiderman. I was able to stop by several of our programs over the course of the summer, including one day at the Lincoln School when our friends from Animal Adventures dropped by to introduce our PreK students to some new furry (and not so furry) friends. The program, which you can read more about in this newsletter, provided exposure to careers in education to our high school students and gave the elementary students older kids to look up to and emulate. This summer we were also able to offer paid internships to 50 Lowell High School students to work as teaching assistants in our elementary summer school programs. We were able to provide transportation, meals, and offer field trips, enrichment, and academic programs in every Lowell Public school that both engaged students in fun activities and helped to bridge the achievement gaps and learning loss created by the COVID-19 pandemic. This year we held our biggest summer school program ever – with more than 4,000 students participating in 40 different programs throughout the district. Learning never stops in Lowell, even over summer break. If you cannot make it on Wednesday night, don’t worry the session will be recorded and available the next day on our social media channels and website. You can find more information about this session, including how to register, in this newsletter. there will be an information session on Zoom to answer all of your school transportation questions for the upcoming year, as well as demonstrate how to use our new bus look-up tool. Tip #3: Place a console table in a home office. When it comes to your home, you only get one chance to make a good first impression, and there is perhaps no easier way to accomplish this than with a hallway designed with a stunning console table – especially when styled with a select few of your favorite decorative accents. Tip #2: Place a console table against a hallway wall or dining room. Tall and long enough to not feel easily overlooked or out-of-place, yet sleek enough to not compete aesthetically with the sofa itself, console tables are hailed among the design world as one of the easiest ways to spruce up such an awkward, oft-forgotten area. The space between the back of a sofa and the living room wall can be bland and hard-to-reach and for a long time has presented tough challenges for designers everywhere – until the arrival of the console table. Tip #1: Place a console table behind the sofa. Smaller than a coffee table but larger than an end table, a console table offers unique versatility: place it against the back of a sofa for convenient surface space, along the wall of an entryway for a standout accent piece – or even in a home office to be used as a makeshift, yet totally chic, work desk! Where to Place a Console Table Below, get inspired by some of the current trends in console table styles – and learn how you can use this versatile, chic and affordable design piece to transform your space! What Is a Console Table? Console Tables, Sofa Tables and Hallway TablesĬonsole tables, also known as hallway tables and sofa tables, have been an interior design staple for centuries – but the uses for them, and how we decorate them, are ever changing.
